Swimming pool refurbishment on a tiled Swimming Pool including re-grouting.
It’s a common misconception that a tiled pool will not need any long term maintenance or repairs.
If you look closely at your pool can you see the grout between the tiles looking discoloured.
Do the tiles seem prominent as the grout has been eroded?
What you might be seeing is the gradual breakdown of the grout which left untreated can cause problems with the pool shell itself.
The time a pool will need regrouting varies, one of the biggest factor is the chemical balance of the water.
If the pool is to acidic or the level of calcuim too low this can contribute to lead to grout loss.
The good news is this problem can rectified reletively easily.
We would drain the pool carry out a chemical wash down to strip back the existing damaged grout, we would then use specialist swimming pool grout to give a long life to the finish.
Finally we would polish up the tiles before refilling the pool.
You will see in the above image the dark areas around each tile, this is where the grout has been eroded over the years. This swimming pool is around 12years old and this is the first refurbishment it has had.
Through time your swimming pool grout will start to erode away, the water will then attack the adhesive
below the grout and if untreated will eventualy eat through to the pool shell.
This can cause serious damage to the pool structure and could result in expensive remedial action to stop the swimmimng pool leaking.
